Al Heilman

Al Heilman

I am an artist who works in many mediums.  I enjoy the interplay of different metal and textures. I use the interplay of color, texture, and light in my work. I work with several different mediums independently or together, including: photography, painting in oil, acrylic and watercolor, on wood, metal, canvas, fine jewelry and Enameling.

This current work is an expression of simplicity. I enjoy its clean and sophisticated lines. When it is combined in a 3 dimensional way, it can provide energy and movement. These pieces all have multiple expressions when the light around them changes.  My Jewelry and Enameling work reflects the feelings of nature and the joy of the human form.

I am inspired by the work of many artists. My current work has a reference to the work of Ellsworth Kelly, Richard Diebenkorn, Frank Stella, Luis Tomasello, Brice Marden, and Blinky Palermo, and Dorothea Rockburne.

I am also working with Nutrition and Art as a vehicle to help children understand the importance of nutrition.  I have been working with the Conroe Art League through a grant from the City of Conroe Commission on the Arts.
